Timberline Aquatics - Company Information

Timberline Aquatics, Inc. is owned and operated by David E. Rees.  Mr. Rees received a B.S. and M.S. from Colorado State University where he studied fishery biology and ecotoxicology, respectively.  Mr. Rees' background and experience includes:

• More than 15 years experience in macroinvertebrate identification, data analysis, and report preparation.

• Twelve years experience in supervising studies designed to evaluate aquatic organisms and ecology.

• Familiarity with EPA protocols and more than 100 indices (metrics) using algae and benthic macroinvertebrates to evaluate aquatic conditions. 

• Extensive experience working with private entities, state agencies, and federal agencies including the USDA Forest Service, Colorado Division of Wildlife, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Bureau of Reclamation. 

• Member of the North American Benthological Society (NABS). Certified taxonomist receiving a score of 100% on the NABS certification exam.

• Author or co-author on more than 50 technical reports and publications.

• Project experience in ten western states. Conducted benthic macroinvertebrate studies on more than 30 rivers and streams in Colorado in nearly every major drainage.
